Actor Daniel Brühl will star alongside Bérénice Bejo and Antonio de la Torre in The Movie Teller. The project will be directed by Lone Scherfig(An Education) and will tell the story of Nansen, an outsider who, with his attention and diplomacy, earns the respect of the families he meets in a Chilean mine before starting a relationship with a local woman, Maria Magnolia (Bejo). The man becomes a second father to the woman's daughter (played by newcomer Sara Becker), whose rare gift for storytelling leads her to become the "movie teller" of the city. The families of the community cannot afford to buy a cinema ticket and the whole city joins forces to raise the money necessary to send the girl to the screenings, so as to allow her to tell the stories seen on the screen, to the delight of all.
The project is an adaptation of the autobiographical novel written by Hernán Rivera Letelier, published worldwide and translated into 19 different languages.
