This Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings review does not contain any spoilers .

Superhero and martial arts , it is undeniable that they are two very different genres from each other. Thus, it is also impossible to imagine that these two genres can blend into one another.

What's more, the mix is with the Marvel Cinematic Shutter superhero film (MCU), which incidentally, is made in the United States. However, this 25th MCU film manages to blend it very well.

However, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings are in fact more than just a successful blend of the two genres . This film again, is a major revolution that the MCU is doing again.

What does it mean? Just find out by listening to the following Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings review .

Asia's Big Win at Superhero Shutter

Since most of you have watched this film, I will just jump right in and discuss all the technical aspects and whether this film is worth watching or not. But let's first answer the meaning of the statement in the previous paragraph.

And yes, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings , is more than just Marvel's success in blending the two genres , superhero and martial arts . This film is also a big win for the Asian race in the realm of Hollywood superheroes (especially Marvel).

Because they've been dreaming for a long time so that they can get a decent and cool representation in the superhero genre as successful as the MCU.

Logically, if Black Panther (2018) is successful in representing the entire black race, why doesn't Asia, who incidentally, also lives and was born in the United States, not get the same representative treatment?

And fortunately, the MCU superhero film directed by Destin Daniel Cretton ( Just Mercy ) exists. As a result, it succeeded in making all races and all countries in the world turn their heads and respect people of Asian descent more and more. Which in the end, also proves that the era of discrimination and racist tensions is slowly getting better.

The Story of a Mystical Origin That Really Got Into the MCU Shutter

Okay, after answering and discussing the cool impact that this film gives, let's now discuss the technical aspects and the feasibility of watching it. And let's start with the logic of this film in its MCU shutter.

As we know, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has a mystical fantasy story and appearance. Like the legend of the 10 powerful rings that Shang-Chi's (Simu Liu) father, Xu Wenwu (Tony Leung) always wore, and also the village with a myriad of mystical creatures, Tao Lo.

The point is, it's like super crazy fantasy legends from mandarin films that we may have seen or often seen. Now logically, super fantasy elements like this, it seems a bit difficult to blend in with the MCU shutter, especially the connectivity of the plot.

However, through this review of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Rings , I can say, I am proud that I was wrong with my doubts. Because this film fits really well with all of its MCU shutters.

In fact, this film is also one of the earliest films that are very important to the plan of exploration of the multiverse and its cosmic shutter (space and other dimensions). Besides that, as an origin film , Shang-Chi is very cool.

Cretton with the help of scriptwriter Dave Callaham ( Zombieland: Double Tap ), managed to tell his origins very neatly, lightly, so that those of us who are not familiar with the characters and mythology of this superhero , can become even more familiar.

Oh yes, one more thing, don't forget about the cinematography, which is super cute. But it's not surprising either. With a colorful fantasy concept and once again, the forest village of Tao Lo, it would be strange and very disappointing if the cinematography of this film was not good.

Fortunately, veteran cinematographer Bill Pope ( The Matrix, Spider-Man 2, Baby Driver ), with his already top-notch skills , has successfully implemented his super cool cinematography.

Very Gokil CGI Effects

But frankly, despite the beautiful cinematography, at first I was a bit lazy to watch Shang-Chi in the cinema.

Because, I feel that this film will be mediocre. After all, on November 12, 2021 or about a month from now, this film will be released via the Disney Plus streaming service.

So, I was planning to write a Shang-Chi review after watching the Disney Plus release.

However, after reading and hearing that the CGI effects of this film are really cool and the release range is still quite long, I finally decided to go to the cinema. And yes, I'm very lucky to change this decision.

Because of the CGI effects of this film, it's not funny. Very smooth , colorful , and very neat. Especially the appearance of all the mystical creatures and the dragon that is called the Great Protector . The display is absolutely amazing.

So if the circumstances allow it, PLIS! Watch this movie through the cinema, guys ! Don't download the illegal footage or even wait until the Disney Plus release. I guarantee that the experience we get will be really kicking.

Simu Liu Is Shang-Chi

Again and again, Marvel has proven shrewd in casting actors with the characters he plays. In other words, Simu Liu is indeed the right actor to portray this superhero of Chinese descent.

When we look at it, we see Shang-Chi and not Simu Liu at all. I don't know, I'm still amazed by Kevin Feige cs. He and his team seemed to have both eyes and feel as sharp as spearheads when doing the casting process .

We can also say the same to other supporting actors. Especially the legendary mandarin actor, Tony Leung ( Internal Affairs ). As a person who watched Chinese series and films quite often as a child on private television stations, I am proud that this 59-year-old actor has finally received wider recognition.

And this is of course because Leung, was very successful in playing Wenwu aka the original Mandarin in this film. He is a unique villain and very different from the Mandarin comic version.

But never mind. After all, apart from being a combination with other Shang-Chi villains , Fu Manchu, once again Leung, has successfully delivered a very master class performance .

One of the Best MCU Movies So far

So what are the drawbacks of this film? Hmmm, very minimal. Maybe for me personally, there are still some original and unanswered questions. And also, the final battle which for me is normal.

But make no mistake guys . However, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is one of the best MCU films so far. I can even compare it to the first MCU film, Iron Man (2008).

And yes cool, this film with Iron Man as well as Iron Man 3 (2010), have significant connectivity with each other. Besides that, what makes this film cool are the martial arts fighting scenes which are very cool and gokil.

One of them is of course the fight scene between Shang-Chi and Razor Fist (Florian Munteanu) on the bus that we have seen in the trailer . With that said, I once again say that for those of you who haven't watched it, hurry up and go to the cinema, okay?
