Viewers have gone this far since watching a fourth episode of the Spider-Man franchise directed by Sam Raimi . As reported by Screen Rant, in fact, the script for Spider-Man 4 was already ready before the sequel was canceled by Sony Pictures.


James Vanderbilt, screenwriter of The Amazing Spider-Man 1 and 2, revealed that the final script for Sam Raimi 's Spider-Man 4 was already ready and that the film was scheduled for distribution in 2011. The project, however, is been deleted from Sony Pictures. Vanderbilt said: "Yes, for Spider-Man 4 we had a complete script ready but Sony Pictures reached out to other great writers to improve it. They changed a few things, and about a year later the studio realized they wanted to go a different path . "


At that point, the negotiations led to Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire to abandon the project and Sony Picutres to prefer a reboot to a sequel. Finally, the lead role was entrusted to Andrew Garfield.
