How is the storyline of "The Wheel of Time"?
Moiraine, an Aes Sedai, and Lan, her guardian, search for a person known as the "Dragon Reborn", who is predicted to save the world or destroy it. He met with Rand, Egwene, Nynaeve, Perrin, and Mat who were supposedly reincarnated.
The Dark One is also looking for the person who is the reincarnation. That's how Moraine and his entourage ran away from the Dark forces, while looking for who was the real Dragon Reborn.
But when the Dragon Reborn is discovered and fights the Dark One, the problem is not solved. Even the great battle had just begun.

What is Aes Sedai?
Aes Sedai are women who can connect with One Power and are trained in the White Tower of Tar Valon. The term Aes Sedai itself in the series' mythology means Servant of All (those who serve all).
The Aes Sedai organization has 7 Ajahs, each of which has its own abilities and functions. The 7 Ajahs come with colors as identity: Blue, Green, Yellow, Red, White, Gray, and Brown.
Every Aes Sedai always has a Warder, a kind of protector who is bound by an oath. Aes Sedai and Warder's relationship is described as closer than a couple.
The Aes Sedai organization is led by an Amyrlin Seat. As leader, Amyrlin Seat is not tied to Ajah, and is described as "of all Ajahs and none".
Who is Dragon Reborn?
Dragon is the title given to the figure of the good power (Light) who fights The Dark One. This figure will be present through reincarnation (hence the name "Reborn") at a certain time.
In the story in this series (Third Age), who becomes Dragon Reborn is Rand al'Thor. However, the prophecy for Dragon Reborn this time is a bit vague, and depicts that he can save or destroy the world.
Who is The Dark One?
The Dark One is an ancient entity with evil powers. His real name is Shai'tan. However, because the name is considered to carry a curse, people often refer to it as The Dark One (well, similar to Voldemort, although this book series was published first)
It can influence people's souls to act evil by encouraging selfishness. In addition, he also creates chaos and destruction through the creatures that become his troops.
What is the difference between the book and the series "The Wheel of Time"?
The early story of the TV series is more directly different from that in the book, which has an opening to build the plot of the Dragon figure. Although both of them reveal who Dragon Reborn is, in the TV series there are no ominous events like in the book (which makes the reader guess).
The characters in the TV series are also older than the books. If in the book Rand is still shy, in the TV series he and Egwene have become a couple. Another obvious difference is that Perrin already has a wife (none in the book).
In the book, there are three Ta'veren who are thought to be Dragon Reborn, and all of them are boys (Rand, Perrin, and Mat). But in the TV series, the number of Ta'veren is 5 with Egwene and Nynaeve, opening up the possibility that Dragon Reborn can also be female.
Then the embodiment of One Power in the book is more colorful, with each element of nature having its own color. But in the TV series, One Power is all white.
Also, some of the plots in the TV series are different when compared to the books. For example, the meeting with Thom Merrilin who only appeared in episode 3, and the incident of Nynaeve who was kidnapped by Trolloc. The journey of these characters was accelerated in the TV series.
