The play-offs were also very painful for Riyad Mahrez's Algeria, who will miss a second consecutive World Cup after that of 2018. Napoli striker Victor Osimhen will also be absent after Nigeria's elimination against Ghana. The former Lille resident, however, obtained several opportunities, without managing to force the decision. Before the play-offs, the hens had already made some heavy victims like the Ivory Coast of Serge Aurier and Sébastien Haller.
Haaland also absent

The play-offs also cost the Italy of Marco Verratti, Leonardo Bonucci or Gianluigi Donnarumma dearly, coming out in the semi-finals. Erling Haaland will also be absent since Norway did not come out of the pools.

In South America, Colombia, 8th finalist in 2018, will also miss the World Cup. A blow for James Rodriguez. Chile failed in these qualifications, finishing in 7th place. Arturo Vidal and Alexis Sanchez will therefore follow the competition in front of their television next winter.
